Cariloha Crazy Soft Resort Sheets

These bad boys make just about any bed look feel as soft as a baby's bum. No but seriously, these sheets are as advertised - soft. We all know Cariloha as the bamboo bedding brand with their established hold on the bamboo market, and that holds true for their Resort sheets as well. The Key to remember is that these are the RESORT sheets , not the classic ones. Those are quite different and that review is located in this guide as well.

Temperature Retention:

Because of the 100% viscose material, these sheets retain the cooler temperature extremely well. In fact, I often can sleep comfortably throughout the night without the air conditioning on with how well they retain temperature.

Quality:

These sheets are marketed as 100% viscose bamboo sheets- which based on after feeling and sleeping on them, I can believe it. These sheets are specifically more softer feeling than any of the previous sheets I've slept and reviewed.

Royal Hotel Silky Soft Bamboo Sheet

Royal Hotel is another staple in the bedding industry which has established themselves as a successful bamboo sheet brand. Their sheets are similar to Cariloha in that they also offer hypoallergic, pesticide free, and allergy sensitive sheets. There are some suttle differences which we highlight below.

Temperature Retention:

These sheets demonstrated a visible ability to retain their coolness in terms of temperature. I originally received these sheets during the summer time, and I must say they did keep my cool in between the sheets. Mind you, I live in North Carolina so the temperatures were never as hot as those in Florida but with no A/C on for a good chunk of the time, they did keep my cool regardless.

Quality:

These sheets are not 100% Rayon like the Cariloha one’s however they still incorporate the same thread count -300TC. Instead, these sheetsa are made of  60% Viscose and 40% Cotton. Like we have mentioned below, this combination doesn’t necessarily mean its any worse than 100% Rayon – infact if you are looking for sturdier material these sheets can be even better. The quality of these sheets are excellent and compare to Cariloha in softness.

Durability:

When I opened these sheets, I could instantly feel the softness in the fabric. What I loved about them, was that after I followed the packaging instructions of how to properly was them and subsequently put them through a couple cycles through the dryer with no heat as recommended by the manufacturer –  they have became even softer. It’s been 5 months since the date of this post , and they still have that same flexibility and softness.

Return Policy:

Royal Hotel offers a 90 day return policy – no questions asked. They are also known to reimburse those who received a defective product or have any complaints. All-around a good company to deal with in terms of customer service.

MALOUF 100% Rayon Bamboo Sheets

Malouf is another brand that scores overwhelming positive reviews on Amazon and other sites.  They come with stellar packaging as you can see below and along with proper instructions on how to take care of them.

I absolutely love how minimal and sleek the packaging looks. The box style packaging is something unique which not many companies have invested their effort and energy into but Malouf has. It gives the entire product a premium feel.

Temperature Retention:

I slept with these sheets last week for this review and I am sold on their ability to provide that coolness between the sheets that bamboo sheets say that do. As opposed to cotton sheets which start cool and end up feeling scorching hot during the night – these sheets kept cool throughout the night.

Quality:

In terms of quality, these sheets have a distinct softness attached to them as they carry that premium feel that high end bamboo companies do.  They also stay put and don’t shift when sleeping on them which makes for a great bed sheet set for those who are restless sleepers. In addition, for

Durability:

These sheets are backed with a warranty and provide users with an extremely simple and thorough washing guide that not many sheets I’ve purchased with come with. The sheets are silky soft as mentioned and retain that silkyness throughout the week I tested them. They come with multiple colors and drape fairly easily over the bed. Unfortunately, these do tend to wrinkle more than some of the other sheets I’ve reviewed but that could be taken care of with some steam pressing. They also tend to be heavier than others.

Return Policy:

According to their promotional video and from what I was able to find on their website- they seem to offer a 5 year review. No details on whether or not this has been proven but I will report more when I hear back from the company.

Bed Voyage

BedVoyage is another 100% rayon from Bamboo bedding set and uses a twill weave setting, a specific type of threading that uses a diagonal line technique, which makes them strong and durable, but also amazingly soft.  They also work with manufactures that hold a OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification which basically states that their textiles are clear of any harmful substances.

Temperature Retention:

Not known for it’s temperature retention, BedVoyage lacks in truly keeping the sheets as cool as other bamboo bed sheets however the difference is still noticeable from regular cotton sheets.

Quality:

Because these sheets are made from 100% rayon, they do have a similar feel as many of the other 100% rayon sheets but not as soft as the saten finish sheets like Cariloha Resort Edition Sheets.  We found these sheets to wrinkle slightly more than the other sheets in the market, but again as we have mentioned before and below – all bamboo sheets wrinkle but it’s about how well you take care of them that maintains that soft and luxurious feel.

Durability:

There have been no reports of poor durability with these sheets except with the white color ones which seem to significantly darken this material and no amount of OxiClean or Oxgen Bleach has returned them back to their original color from my experience.  There is an extreme difference between the sides of the fitted sheet which are still white and the top which is now grey, even when freshly washed. So we recommend you stay away from the white sheets!

Return Policy:

After some digging, I found that BedVoyage offers this on there main website:  “We offer a full refund of your purchase price up to 30 days after you receive your product. In the event of a manufacturer defect we will replace your product or refund your purchase price up to 60 days after your purchase”. Again, Amazon has it’s own refund policy as well so not to worry!

Cariloha Classic Sheets

The Cariloha Classic Sheets, which are markedly different than their Cariloha Resort Sheets, seem to carry the same features as the resort sheets except for the saten finishing. As we mentioned before, the saten finishing is a primary reason why many companies charge you more for certain bamboo bedding.

Temperature Retention:

Just as the Cariloha Resort Sheets scored well for their temperature

Linen Spa

Linen Spa is a brand that prides themselves on their beautiful aesthetically pleasing products. Linen Spa is a brand that has been delivering bed sheet products for half a decade now and have a massive collection of bamboo and non-bamboo products. Specifically, for their bamboo sheets they offer a gorgeous example of colors.

Temperature Retention:

I had no issue with these sheets in regards to retaining a cool temperature as they performed on par with the other sheets. I read a review online of a woman suffering from post-menopausal symptoms who used these sheets to help her through that period of time – so if you are someone experiencing that, these sheets might be for you.

Quality:

The quality of these sheets can’t be questioned as they are made with 100% rayon from bamboo, however they do suffer from a good amount of wrinkling. They also tend not to pile up which is a plus. The biggest con for me would be the care tag being on top of the flat sheet.

Durability:

Many have reported that these sheets have no issues with durability but again the wrinkle issues is something that is commonly talked about with these sheets – especially as you can see above at the ends of the pillow and sheets is where the wrinkling is the most severe.

Return Policy:

These come with the standard amazon return policy, however they have returned customer’s sheets well beyond the normal 30 day period that amazon offers.

Resort Resource Group

Resort Resource Group, just as the name sounds, have been providing bedding products to luxury resorts and hotels globally for years. They have opened up a line available to customers now which is where their bamboo sheets come in. They state that their sheets can outlast the rigors of hotel washing machines and soft enough to impress hotel patrons thus making their product ideal for any home. As you read below, I found that their claims held true except for a couple of features which did not.

Temperature Retention:

These sheets dry quickly when damp from night sweats and those who naturally sweat more than others.

Quality:

These sheets do have that resort like quality in the silky softness they display as well as the fabric feel. The fabric feels extremely smooth when compared to other sheets. It almost feels as if the stitching they used for this product is vastly different than others. I am curious to know that type of stitching they used for this and if it’s any different than the typical diagonal stitching. They do advertise that their sheets are made to a 350 thread count, which is more than any thread count on this list. Remember, a higher thread count does not necessarily mean that a sheet is better – just as a lower thread count does mean it is any worse. However, I might be able to attribute the extra softness of these sheets to the thread count with all the rest remaining equal.

Durability:

Just as some of the previous sheets on the review list, the Resort Resource Group suffers from mild wrinkling issues. Some users did report having noticed some color blotches on their sheet sets, in which they returned their sheets with no issues.

Return Policy:

These come with a 30 day return policy as provided by Amazon and additionally if you were to contact them personally, they have no issues solving any customer support claims beyond that time period.

Royal Tradition

Royal Tradition stands out from the rest of the pack with their color selection as you can from the picture, where they offer a wide array of gorgeous colors for your bamboo sheets.

Temperature Retention:

Royal Tradition was commonly found to be used in Florida as many of the customers who purchased these sheets reportedly stated that they lasted the hot summers of the South fairly proficiently in regards to keeping them cool.

Quality:

In terms of quality, the hems were nicely tailored  and professionally finished with a 4 inch hem on the top sheet and a 4 inch hem on the pillow cases. In addition, the deep pocketed fitted sheet ensured that there would be no slipping on the thicker mattresses. The fitted pockets measured 14 inches which would accommodate a thicker mattress.

Durability:

There were no blotching issues in terms of color fading that were noticed in these sheets. They also performed well in a general survey of wear and tear with a majority of users stating they did not experience any holes or tears in their sheets after multiple washes.

Return Policy:

Standard 30 – Day Return Policy.

Bamboo Sheet Buying Guide

Bamboo sheets have been coming increasingly popularity in recent years – and for good reasons. They are agruablly- softer than cotton, made with sustainable material, antimicrobial, hypoallergic and moisture absorbing. They keep you cool during the summer and even warm in the winter.  If you’ve made it this far down- then you already know this but what many don’t know is what they should be looking for when they are buying their own bamboo sheets. There are so many brands and claims from these companies. However, not all bamboo is the same. We dedicated this portion of the page to a buying guide to help you choose the best bamboo sheets possible.

Material

There are 3 types of bamboo fabric that you should be aware of:

 1. 100% Bamboo Rayon (aka Viscose)

The majority of bamboo sheets that you see out there are made of this fabric. Rayon was the first generation of cellulose fibers. There are various ways in which rayon is manufactured, and each varies in the chemicals used which respectively have their own impact on our environment today. If you decide to choose a bed sheet made with Rayon, try to ask sellers for their manufacturing certificate which dictate whether the manufacturer is a certified green manufacturer. If possible, try to choose bamboo rayon products which are treated without chlorine bleach and zinc sulfate.

2. Bamboo blend with cotton

The next most common blend is 60% bamboo rayon, 40% cotton or 70% bamboo rayon, 30% cotton. Combining bamboo with cotton allows the fabric to be stronger than just bamboo alone. However, as a result the softness of the fabric is compromised. In addition, with the  cotton component, the bamboo blend becomes less sustainable than just Rayon as cotton products tend to have a tremendous amount of chemical waste byproducts in the production process.

3. Bamboo Linen:

Bamboo linen uses the same manufacturing process that is used to produce common linen fabric from flax or hemp. The biggest downfall to this product is the increased propensity to wrinkle and decreased softness. In addition, this kind of fabric comes with a steep learning curve in terms of maintaining and washing it.

Weave

The weave of a fabric is what ultimately affects how it looks and feels.

1. Sateen is a one-yarn-under and three-yarn-over weave that is used to produce that smooth and luxurious feel that you notice in hotel bedrooms. They incorporate a higher thread count a thick texture. In addition, it has that nice sheen that you see on bed sheets and allows your bed sheets to stand out.

Pros: It is softer than twill weave. Aesthetically, it looks more polished and refined than twill weave.

Cons: Steep learning curve in-order to properly take care of them. They are also more expensive than  a twill wave.

2. Twill is the weave commonly found in jeans today as it a tight weave.  It is made with a diagonal type of stitching.

Pros: More durable than sateen weave.

Cons:  Not as soft as sateen. Has the tendency to shrink if poorly made.

Questions To Ask

Here are our top tips in choosing the right bedding for you!

    1. Always look at the material label see what you are buying. In the United States, by law, manufacturers can't just mark their products as "100% bamboo". They have to specify if it's "bamboo rayon/viscose" or "bamboo linen".
    2. If what you care about most is the softness of your sheet, absolutely go for bamboo sateen products. After all our testing - we found this material and combination to be the softest.
    3. If you care less about softness but like your sheets to be a bit sturdy, bamboo twill is a good choice.
    4. Ask for fabric swatches! Fabric swatches can allow you to test out the material without having you go through the whole buying and returning process. You can match these swatches with your bedroom design to see what's the best bed sheet for you.
